Do you need it to be kosher, or just in the style of a kosher deli? I love Michael's in Brookline, but they're not kosher. Also apparently you qualify a 15 minute walk from Boston to be "the burbs."

so did you try Rubin's even though it's in Brookline, it's good according to my boyfriend who frequents it for corned beef, tongue and whatever other meats he needs.

What's a Jewish Deli... a bunch of cold cuts that were nicely murdered?

i haven't been to rubin's yet - my trips to suburbia tend to be to newton and the south shore (family-related) but when i get to it i'll let you all know how it is for sure.  and johnnyfoodface - to be honest i couldn't tell you a whole lot about kosher meat vs other meat - but jewish deli just happens to flat out be yummy food. i guess look it up if you really want to know more about it.

It depends, what's JohnnyFoodface, a douchebag?  It's really cool to insult peoples religious practices.

A Jewish deli serves Kosher meat and abides by the Jewish laws of kashrut.  Basically, meat and dairy are not served together and the meat comes from only cetain parts of certain animals.  To be kosher, an animal must have cloved hooves and chew its cud, and poultry is also kosher.  The animals are killed and food processed under rabinnical supervision and salt is used to remove the blood from the meat.
