This place is the bomb.
The whole shebang medium spicy is the way to go. If you get it super spicy, it's too intense. Arrive early as there is always at least a 30-45 minute wait.

I thought this place was fun and cute. I drove all the way here to this town to meet up with some friends. The one thing I didn't like was the long ass wait. But what made the wait bareable was to people watch the crowd in the waiting place outside. Interesting people...but the wait pretty much sucked the big nut. Plus I was so hungry. I think we probably waited a good 1.5 hours or more.
The food however was yummy. The spicy was really spicy. I had running nose by shrimp #3. We had the whole shabang. It was good enough to feed 5 people...so that was good. The sauce that they steam it in is very garlic-ky, which I love garlic. The place was fun to eat in a very informal way...no plates, no utensils...sort of barbaric and "medieval times" style. Just grab from plastic bag and use paper towels. You have to get both hands into the action and just start peeling. The crab we got was pretty good too. They also have sweet potato fries which I love. I would definitely go back and try something new.
I had a big urge to write stuff on the walls since that was what other people did. So next time bring some sharpie markers to leave your mark. Oh...and the parking is not so great...so thats why I give it 3 stars.

I've heard a lot of hype about this place for over a year now. I came in with high expectations and didn't leave disappointed. I ordered the whole shebang mild shrimp and fried catfish. Delicious!
I went on a Saturday at 4:30 PM and was seated right away but by the time we were leaving there were at least 20 people waiting outside. Expect a long wait during peak hours. The parking lot is small and probably has room for about 8 cars but there are plenty of parking down the street.
Oh yeah... expect to get your face, hands, and clothes dirty. Don't go with people you aren't comfortable eating with. Probably not the best place to go on your first date.

All the reviews are true... The Boiling Crab is THAT good!! The shrimp with the whole sha-bang is all sorts of spicy, garlicky, yummy goodness. And don't forget to add some corn in with it! YUM. Also get the catfish that's fried to perfection, thee best I've tasted!
In the past couple of weeks I've been there 3 times. Yup, I'm that addicted. This place is just awesome. Go around 6pm on weekdays and there's no wait. Or if you live close by, take it to go. It's just as good!
My mouth is watering right now just thinking of the Boiling Crab. Must make another visit back soon!
Five stars for the tasty food.
One star for what it did to my stomach.
Ah, but I can't stay mad at the boiling crab. O.K., 4 stars.

I would have given this place 5 stars if only the staff didn't try kicking us out last time my friends and I visited. I don't get it. We waited an hour and a half to be seated. We get our food and only take about half an hour to eat and then ask us if we were almost finished so that they can give our table to the next guests on their waiting list. RUDE!!!
We waited a long time and we wanted to sit and relax as the food digested in our stomachs. NO! That didn't happen. The staff kept clearing our table and every few minutes would ask us when we were done. I understand it was busy but we paid a lot of money and waited a long time. We should be allowed to sit for a while.
Lesson learned, we're ordering to go next time. The food is actually good but not worth waiting for.

Dear Boiling Crab Owners,
Please consider buying part of Noodle World to expand. The wait is sometimes unbearable, but the food is so damn good it's worth the wait. It's a good thing I choose to come here during the week so the wait is not that crazy, but even then I have to wait 30 minutes or so. Don't worry I will still come here since I love the shrimp here. Hey I have an idea--get rid of the parking lot--street parking is fine with me!
Thank you,
DG
Their fried catfish, shrimp, and chicken wings are delish. Sweet potato fries and corn is yummy. My ultimate favorite is the shrimp with the whole shebang. The waiters and waitresses are pretty attentive and do a good job checking up on you. I also like that they 3 huge T.V's to keep me entertained.

This is the best cajun seafood restaurant EVER!! It is totally worth the wait. The shrimp is my favorite with the whole SHA BANG sauce. Im not too much of the crawfish fan because its a lot of work for very little meat. You also have to get the sides to complete the meal. The sausage, corn on the cob and fries goes great with the shrimps. With all the sides 1 lb of shrimp was way more than enough for me. The first time I went there I wasnt able to finish the whole lb of shrimps and this is not a type of food i would like to take to go because its quite a mess. so the 2nd time I went there with 2 other friends we ordered 2 lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of crawfish was way more than enough for us and of course we ordered the sides. The hostess was a bit rude. I've tried many cajun seafood restaurants and the boiling crab is the best! Their food is literally FINGER LICKING GOOD! oh yeah you will have extreme garlic breath after your meal haha

1. seafood
2. spicy
3. eat with your hands
4. garlic
then this is the place for you. the fried catfish is mighty yummy too...not greasy at all. and the fries...by the end of the night, you will reek of garlic. actually, reek of garlic for the next few days.

This is the second time that I've been to a Boiling Crab restaurant. I'm kind of over it already. The taste is blah the more I ate it. This time we ordered 3 lbs. of shrimp, crawfish, one dungess crab, 36 pieces of sausage, cajun fries, and potatoes. I would have preferred eating all of the seafood without any seasoning, just steamed or boiled nice and fresh than eat here again...
Not worth the long wait for me....

My rating is actually a 4.5 rounded up to a 5
Did anyone notice the article on the Boiling Crab in the LA Times this past week? Well, that's how I first heard about this place, I guess I don't go on Yelp enough. Hehe
We arrived a little before 4 on a Sunday (today) and we had to wait maybe 10 minutes, although the girl said 20. The first thing you notice when you enter the place, is the wave of garlic that hits you. It almost made me a little nauseous. So the waitress puts the bibs on us, a little awkward there, I felt like a kid, and I'm sure my grandma felt silly.
OK... I see the paper towel roll, the butch paper..what's next. We sat there for awhile... chilling.. doing nothing... What was wrong... we didn't have any menus! At first I was like 'HUH? is there menu tacked on a wall among the numerous tags on the walls?' So I asked one of the girls...and she was surprised too and quickly gave us the menus. She did make sure to ask us who had seated us. Imagine sitting down customers and not giving them menus? I guess she was new?
We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp (whole sha bang) and the fried catfish that came with the cajun fries. The shrimp came quickly, the guy just plopped it in front of us. My mom and grandma were rather shocked. So we all dug in. OKKK...I have an excuse for what happened next. I thought the shrimp was alright. My EXCUSE was... I had a cold.. my throat felt funny and I think the spices were a little harsh on my throat... I don't know. BUT I did stuff myself full of it.
The fried catfish was DELICIOUS! We were all fans of it. SO SOFT, SO TENDER! Cajun fries lived up to the expectations. I LOVED the fact that there were no plates. I was thinking 'Hm, the ketchup goes...'SQUIRT! on to the table. It was fantastic, I loved the fact that we can get down and dirty. Did I mention it felt orgasmic when I was able to wash my dirty hands with some hot water in the bathroom?
The customer service was ok...No one offered us any lime : / My mom wanted to to-go the 4 pieces of shrimp left, the waitress never came back with a bag, so my mom just wrapped it up with paper towels and tied the plastic bib around it. Lame. We did get our drinks re-filled.
So yea... they need improvement on that..and parking spaces. I wonder where the employees park their cars? It seems like the lot is not enough for the employees' cars. We ended up parking at the end of the street.
In the end, we were happy and content. $34 for the four of us. That's pretty cheap. It's definitely a unique place to dine at, I would recommend everyone to try it.
One Dungenous crab sauced with the whole shabang medium spicy!
One order of shrimp sauced with the whole shabang medium spicy!
Corn, sausage, & potatoes sauced with you know what.
One order of Fried chicken wings- medium spicy!
One order of Gumbo
Maybe one more order of medium spicy fries!
and finally a couple of Coronas and a coke.

Funny story about this place:
So we were all starving. They wouldn't seat us till our whole party arrived (we had 9..waiting for 2 more). Towards the end, cranky me started bitching (quite loudly) about the wait. After saying "WHERE THE FUCK DOES IT SAY THAT WE NEED EVERYONE HERE? SHOW ME THE FUCKING SIGN". My friends look around...saw a pink sheet with small print on the door and pointed at it. I go there...read it..and SHUT THE FUCK UP immediately LOL. Yea, felt like a total douche bag. hahahah It was a good laugh... =(
The cajun fries are sooooo damned good!! I can eat that everyday! The crawfish was so-so that night. We ordered the sha-bang, extra spicy but it wasnt spicy enough. The sha-bang shrimps were good but also not spicy enough. The crabs were okay. I mean--it's very tasty--if only they made it spicy enough. We asked for EXTRA spicy for a reason guys...load it up! Make our asses burn!! They're very good with the refills on drinks though.
The wait is a total bitch though..but I would go back.

Obviously, if you're here to eat...you're gonna get dirty. So don't come dressed in all white. This place is one of my personal favorite places. How can you go wrong with a bib and a place that lets you graffiti up their walls? I'm not a big fan of the lobster or crab just because of the price. If you're a pricewatcher like myself, they the best bang for the buck is the crawfish and shrimp. I usually get the whole shi-bang sauce and have never been disappointed in the flavor. The chicken wings and cajun fries are really good if you want some sides.
This place is AWESOME! The food, service, and ambiance is great, but the wait and parking is just freaking horrible. After 6:30pm on any given day, the wait can run anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. So if possible, try to get there before 6:30pm and you should be seated within 15 mins.
*Note: The bigger the party, the longer the wait. NO RESERVATIONS. 80% of your party must be present before being seated.
For all the ladies, make sure you don't wear white or nice clothing before entering in this restaurant or else you may run into a risk of getting it dirty. Don't get your nails done before coming here because they will be ruin by the end of the meal. Make sure you bring a hair clip or something of that nature because you don't want your hair to taste or smell like Cajun sauce by the end of the night.
For first timers, you gotta order the shrimp (whole sha-bang), side of corn and sausage, cajun fries, fried shrimp, and beer. I wouldn't recommend ordering the crawfish or the crab if you are not an expert in breaking the shell apart.

It does get messy when juices start squirting left and right... but thats what the bibs are for! Stopped in for lunch today round 2:30 which was perfect timing. No wait at all, we were seated promptly although the place was still packed. Everything we ordered was bomb diggidy! 1lb. of Shrimp was cooked perfectly, 2lb. dungeoness crab contained succulent and huge lumps of crab meat, fried oysters were great.. the hot sauce it came with was even better, cajun fries were better than most, and the fried catfish was nice & crispy on the outside while moist and juicy on the inside! I highly recommend getting the shellfish seasoned up with the WHOLE SHA-BANG! either mild or spicy.. you'll enjoy it, trust me on this. Its finger fu'kin licking good!

This place is seriously not a first date place. Unless your date has a bib fetish or is totally cool with watching you suck out shrimp brains and dribble bright orange juices all over yourself. Plus, you WILL smell like garlic for the rest of the day, no foolin'.
That being said, this is a GREAT place to eat so much cholesterol that you probably just knocked a good 4 years off your lifespan. Delicious shrimp, crab legs, lobster, crayfish, you name it; all drenched in butter, garlic, and magical cajun spices that are so worth the imminent heart attack. Really good sweet potato and cajun fries, and the corn on the cob is freakin delicious too (they cook it right in the sauce).
TIPS: Wear really ratty/old clothes, and shelve your pride and wear the damn bib. Girls (or guys) with long hair will probably want to tie it up. Tear out at least 3 sheets of paper towels per person BEFORE you start eating (trust me). Go for the whole shabang sauce for the authentic Boiling Crab experience, unless you are a vampire and hate garlic. Mild is relatively spicy IMO, medium makes my lips start burning after the third shrimp. Drink refills are free so don't be afraid to ask for 3rds to wash down all that sweet, sweet butter. Enjoy!

But how do you eat it? Because of the horrendous wait, we decided to take our food to go. BIG mistake. We got home and didn't know where to start, there was no one to ask, and no one to look at and copy. I'm afraid I got more food on my clothes than actually in my tummy. :)

The Good --- juicy shrimps, meaty king crab legs and savory catfish! I can't comment on the crawfish cause my guy and I aren't particularly fond of them but judging from how people in the other tables are eating, I'm guessing it's finger licking good! I like to get the sweet potato fries AND cajun fries. As for the flavoring, we like to get the WHOLE SHA-BANG. Don't forget the sausage and corn btw...
The Bad --- it gets messy!! Messy and dirty!! You'll be smelling like garlic for days to come. I admit it does bother me a bit that all they do is cook the seafood then dump the sauce on...cause after you peel the shell, the meat isn't flavored. *sigh*
The Ugly --- we've waited more than 45 minutes for a table for two before and the parking... MY GOSH! Save yourself the trouble of trying to squeeze into the small lot and just find some street parking.
This is probably the best seafood joint I've been to. Anyone who loves seafood has got to check this place out. I was a bit skeptical about an Asian-run Cajun seafood restaurant but it was really good. Prices are reasonable - it was about 9/lb for shrimp and 12/lb for dungeness crab. Not bad.
DO:
Order the cajun fries!
Find street parking - their lot can probably fit no more than 7 cars
Wear the bib! It gets messy
DON'T:
Wear white or anything you actually like. Even with the plastic bib, it can get messy with cajun juices flying in all directions.
Go there past 6 if you're not willing to wait. They get CRAZY packed and DON'T take reservations!

I actually like the crawfish better at Crabulous! But the Shrimp and Cajun fries are better here. It's goooooood, BUT I can get the same minus the wait at Crabulous in my opinion!
Four girls.
3 pounds of shrimp.
1 cajun fries.
1 cajun fries + 6 pieces of catfish.
=Happiness
Okay, so that may not seem like a lot of food, but trust me, it was most certainly enough. I totally recommend all of the food I just listed above, especially the catfish. Normally I'm not a big fan, but the way that Boiling Crab makes it, is AMAZING. The outside is nice and crunchy, while the meat on the inside is moist, tender, and succulent. Try to come before 5:30 on weekends and 6:15 on weekdays, cause it just gets too crowded. Oh, and park on the streets, cause the parking lot is too small.
The cousin & her hubby went here last night after many "We should try that place"'s. Sunday night at 9:00 pm...jam packed. I mean, sure, the reviews all said they were packed...but they thought Sunday night at 9:00 pm? Couldn't be THAT packed..right?! Wrong! So, they email us today and asked us if we'd like to join them for dinner tonight at around 8:30 or so. Of course we said yes, since we, too, have had many "We should try that place" conversations.
Still jam packed but the wait was just under half an hour. Not too bad. We were waiting outside just smelling all the juicy seafood and garlic wafting through the doors teasing us. We could not WAIT to get in! Once we got seated, we quickly scanned the menu. While scanning the menu, a waitress swiftly bibbed us. We were trying to decide on what to eat and maybe 3 servers asked us if we were ready to order...talk about prompt service! Between the four of us, we ordered a pound of shrimp, a pound of king crab with garlic butter seasoning, a pound of king crab with "the whole sha-bang" seasoning, a pound of crawfish, a catfish basket with cajun fries, sweet potato fries, and 6 raw oysters. Yes..we were hungry and eager.
Our bags of seafood come out. Everything is delicious. Sure, the crawfish is a bit small...but we're crawfish lovers and knew what we were in for. The shrimp..huge and crazy juicy. The king crab legs were deeeelish. With servers constantly serving us and making sure we were satisfied filling up our drinks non-stop. The seafood was all juicy and delicious...the seasonings were great with a nice kick to it. The sweet potato fries were sooooo good. A huge basket of sweet potato fries and we could barely finish them considering we were so full from the seafood.
Crab juice flying everywhere, shrimp sauce splashin' up a storm...come dressed for the occasion... nothing you mind gettin' dirty.. cuz trust me.. you're gonna get down and dirty and enjoy every minute of it.
I've probably been to The Boiling Crab 5-6 times. The first few times, I really loved this place. Their seafood was just super fresh, the atmosphere was fun, the waiters/waitresses were nice. If I was writing a review then I probably would have given it 4 stars.
But our recent few visits were major disappointments. The wait was ridiculous. We had our name down and were told to wait 45 min. We walked over to the near market, came back 45 min later, name got called already, so instead of seating us with the next available table, they put our name on the bottom of the list. We waited for another hour and 30 min to get a table. That was not cool at all!!!!!
The quality of their food has not been the same and the taste is just so blah now. Just a great disappointment!!
I love their Cajun craw fish! I like that it comes with little sausages in the sauce. You've also got to try their hot wings, it has an Asian twist. I hate it when some places do an Asian inspired - American dish. It usually doesn't come out right, but I think they succeed on the hot wings. Has a cute college vibe...ahh...the good old days....
Back in the days when boiling crab was located in westminister, i was totally in love. seafood + spicy = heaven! So when I heard that this location was open a few months ago or whatever, I was SOOO happy! But after seeing how small it was, I was like great...small place=long wait! I ALWAYS get the shrimp and sometimes crawfish. I feel like the shrimp is worth more because it has meat. And then the crawfish is a lot of hard work just to get one little size of meat. The spiciest I ever got was extra spicy. Ugh, wrong idea. It didn't have any flavor because all you can taste is the hotness. Well, that was my fault. Now I lessened it down to just spicy.
I love their cajun crawfish and lobster. it was finger-licking good! I also LOVE their sweet potato fries. I enjoyed EVERY single suck, bite and crackle of the crawfish......i'm drooling just thinking about it right now. *sigh*...
The food is just as good as the other location in Orange County (see other review). The wait can be horrible so be prepared to come early or wait a long hungry time. Large parties aren't recommended during busy times (duh) =( Parking is horrible..blah. All this for crawfish? Yeah..all this for crawfish. It's that's good.

I was introduced to this place by my sisters who are hardcore on the Whole Sha-bang! I have to admit, they got me hooked. The Whole Sha-Bang! consists of Shrimp in Rajun Cajun sauce, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic butter with garlic. Think of minced garlic but a bit bigger. I absolutely love garlic so, I am in heaven everytime I order the whole Sha-Bang.
I ordered the Crawfish one time and that was the last time I'll ever order Crawfish because it was such a hassle trying to break apart the shell only to find out that the meat is the size of the tip of your pinky finger!
The staff are really friendly. You are also provided plastic bibs cuz it really gets MESSY.
God, now I am craving the whole Sha-Bang, dammit!

Came here on a Sunday around 5pm and the wait was not bad at all for two people. Our wait was probably around 5 minutes. We sat across a flat screen tv that was showing an Olympic exhibition basketball game. Of course, my hubby was happy about that. We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp, one bag with shabang sauce and the other drenched in garlic butter sauce. I must admit I liked the garlic butter sauce better. We also ordered some corn boiled in shabang sauce. Shabang consists of all their sauces combined. I believe its a mixture of Cajun, Lemon Pepper, and Garlic Butter?!? I think I'm missing one more seasoning, but basically it was greasy and flavorful. We didn't bother with the crawfish because there is so little meat, but maybe next time we'll try some lobsters and crabs.
I would give it 5 stars but it's not too healthy eating too much of this stuff, and do they really boil it in the plastic bag it comes in!?! If so, your seafood and corn might be chemically contaminated. =P

This little shack of an eatery houses some seriously delicious seafood. My first time here, I had a nice helping, though not filling enough, pound of shrimp with the whole shebang seasoning. The shrimp was fairly good in size and plump. I also had a crab but it was not that meaty and I am too impatient to crack and pick through the crevices. The prices are fair but not the cheapest pick for a filling meal. However, I do plan on returning, just because this place is unique and tasty!
Is it good? hellzyeah. Is it the end all of crawfish and fried seafood? Prolly not, even though it kicks the crap out of places like the crab pot and joes crab shack.
Best: crawfish and shrimp in the ragin' cajun'
fried catfish is soooo tasty.
fries and sweet potato fries are great.
We brought friends from Japan here: they LOVED it.
Oysters aren't bad either, but nothing to write home about.
Reasonable beer prices, really good food and decent service = boiling crab.
It's definitely not worth a huge wait, but if you time your arrival right, it's all good.
So I'm not a seafood fan. In fact it's pretty down there on my list of places I like to frequent. But I have to admit, the food here is pretty good. The Whole Shabang.....Now the wait is horrible. There are signs right at the door saying you better have all your party there before you get seated and they mean it. Try not to go on a hot day in other words. Also for some reason, there are a lot of girls here that are made up and look dressed up sorta....and parking is not your friend here.....oh yeah...YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN RICE...I SAW PEOPLE BUST OUT A RICE COOKER THEY BROUGHT FROM HOME...WHAT THE HELL???....OUTSTANDING...

You wouldn't expect Cajun-style seafood in the middle of Asia-ville but yes it does exist. It's simply good.
The fried catfish and fries are PERFECT. Doesn't taste muddy and the meat is tender. The dungeness crab was also cooked quite well and was bathed in it's sauce. One thing I realized was to not get anything above medium heat. Not because of the spiciness but because anything more than medium the food gets too bitter, rendering it slightly repulsive. The shrimp and sausage was great and appropriately cooked but it came undeveined. I hate that. I'd pay more for it to be properly cleaned.
I don't want to beat a dead horse so here's a list of the good, bad, and the ugly.
Good:
prices
relaxed atmosphere
attentive workers
TV's with sports (go Manny!)
Sam Adams priced the same as Bud
eclectic crowd
Bad:
the wait is long (1.5 hours for us on a Friday night)
small sinks in the bathroom
getting spicy/extra spicy will just make things too bitter
Ugly:
large undeveined shrimps

I've only had the shrimp, raw oysters, and dungeon crab so far, but the dungeon crab with the WHOLE SHABANG is deliiiiicious! The shrimp and oysters are also yummy, but the crab stood out for me, maybe because I was craving crab at the time. Not a budget-friendly ($70 for 2 people last time) place obviously since you're looking to get full off of seafood alone, but it's a great place for occasional splurge to satiate your seafood cravings and not have to eat with manners. The crab meat was sooo satisfying, ahhh, talking about it makes me want to go back this weekend!

I don't like this place that much anymore... and here's why!!
1) It's Tuesday, we arrived around 6:00 and there was still a wait of 20-25 min. If you want to come here for dinner, and don't want to wait, well then.. too bad. There's always going to be a wait. I realize 25 min. might not be that long at BC, but sometimes waiting just sucks.
2) I don't care what you say, crawfish just ain't that good.
Oh. Just 2 reasons. I thought I had more..The oysters are still really good. I'm usually eating more fries and gumbo than the seafood itself, so is the normal 1 1/2 hour wait worth it for fries and mediocre gumbo? Naw dood.

Round 2
Went here with my family. You know, the typical Filipino family outings. Where you drive for miles just to reach your destination (namely military bases and/or Seafood City), only to enjoy it for like 30 minutes.
Well enough of the lengthy details of lame Pinoy shenanigans.
The food and service was bomb just like my last visit to The Boiling Crab. Granted, there was a bit of a wait on a late Saturday afternoon, but like I said, it's well worth the price of admission.
And this time, I was able to try the raw oysters and a 2 pound bag of mild Shrimp. The oysters are a great appetizer if you squeeze a bit of lemon and their hot sauce on it (which tasted kind of like a mildly spicy cocktail sauce). The shrimp was by far my favorite part of the meal. It's just so meaty and definitely has the best bang for your buck. The rest of the menu tasted exactly the same as last time, so I'll just save my breath.
WTF Moments:
- "If you eat raw oysters and become ill, you should seek immediate medical attention."
- "If you are unsure you are at risk, you should consult your physician."
- Damn, I wish I read that in the menu before I had eaten it. Oh well, it was good!
