This restaurant has a very "American" feel to it, although it is located behind The 99 Cents Store. Its atmosphere is pleasant, and the dining area is pretty. It is also clean! Which is pretty hard to get when you're dining at a Vietnamese restaurant. I would recommend the beef salad and the pork spring rolls. That's about it. The spring rolls are what they are famous for, and quite addictive. Come here for some Asian/French fusion cuisine.
We had nem nuong cuon, chao tom cuon, bi cuon, nem chua cuon, banh khot, banh xeo, hu tieu nam vang, banh tom Co Ngu...
The cuon (wraps) were really good, they came pre-wrapped so we don't have to mess with it. Each of the wrap came with the item that it is named for like nem nuong, chao tom, some vegies, and a fried roll in the middle. The orange/brown sauce for the wraps was really really delicious.
The hu tieu was pretty good as well... it was tasty and pretty authentic.
Banh xeo, banh khot, and banh tom Co Ngu were ok, not too good not bad.
This place address is on Wesminster but it is actually inside the Mall of Fortune, you can drive around 99 market and park right in front of the restaurant or park in frond of Mall of Fortune and walk to the back of it.
Met up with some friends for lunch at Brodard. Bf and I got Mi and shared some nem nuong. The mi was alright, lacking a bit of flavor. However the nem nuong was off the hook as always. Never disappointed. Fast service and reasonable priced grub.

This restaurant concluded my stay in Orange County, and it ended with a good note. Packed full of people, and had a long line for the waiting list, but it was worth it. This restaurant is famous for their Goi Cuon (Spring Rolls) and also their Banh Khot (Mini Crepes), so that's all we ordered. If you don't mind the wait, try this place out for the experience. I don't know if I'd recommend trying other menu items though, I've been hearing a pretty consistent "ONLY get Spring Rolls.." from friends.

Every time I come here I try to find another item on the menu that is as much out of this world as the spring rolls. So far no luck.
I've had their noodle soups and each time they are mediocre and pretty small portions. I also tried their broken rice and it left the same exact impression, small and the meat was very bland.
Looks like I'll be sticking with only their spring rolls and unique dipping sauce unless I get suggestions of other items that are good!

I dont even know if i already reviewed this spot, but every time i go to socal, i have to stop by here and get some of those pork spring rolls. geez I wish we had some here in san jose!!! anyways keeping it short. i like them they are goooooood!
This would of been a 4 star if all I got were Nem Nuong Cuon Rolls + not getting kicked out at 8:50PM.
But for now it's a 2
FOOD:
-Banh Tom Co Ngu (Sweet Potato with Fried Shrimp and Veggies)
-Hu Tieu Thai
-Nem Nuong Cuon
-2 Rau Ma (Pennyworth drinks)
Total was roughly $25
TASTE:
Banh Tom Co Ngu - I ordered this because they were out of the Tom Hoa Tien (rocket rolls). Now I've ordered this before but I guess it was so long I realized how NOT good it was. I mean it wasn't bad, but the sweet potato was cut really thick so unless you eat it right away, it gets soggy super fast. It wasn't fried extra crispy. You could tell it was just a slight coating of batter. The shrimp..what shrimp? Man I think I had 4 pieces of shrimp in there. For $7 for this dish, in comparison to Van's Restaurant cross the street at $5.. I got about maybe a 1/3 of what Van's gives you.
Hu Tieu Thai - Now my girlfriend ordered this and I was a bit skeptical because I'm not into ordering anything ethnic that isn't from that restaurant's home country. She was expecting the hot and sour soup you'd get at say real Thai Restaurants. So basically all this soup was, was Hu Tieu noodles (the chewy clear kind aka "my tho" style) and a few pieces of calamari, shrimp, and that was about it. The portion was dinky!! Seriously, I thought I was at the $1.99 restaurant for the portion they gave us. It was just sour broth, that's basically all it was. No flavor, everything was bland. My gf couldn't even finish it. She was disappointed.
Nem Nuong Cuon - It was good. If anything, it's not even about the nem nuong meat, it's the dipping sauce. If other places can do their dipping sauce like Brodard's.. man they'd be banking! I like Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa in SGV when it comes to texture of the nem nuong as well as the tiny eggroll.
Rau Ma - Regular Rau Ma to me.
SERVICE: Pretty good service as everyone works in teams. Places that jack you on the price tend to give you decent service. Only issue was at 8:40PM, the back lights were turned off and everyone was cleaning, wiping and sweeping. Seriously ...you had 20 more minutes. I know you're in a freakin hurry but come on now... how unattractive!!
I'm only getting to-go next time and it'll be the Nem Nuong Cuon Rolls. Nothing else.

Four stars for the spring rolls!
My boyfriend and I rarely (and I mean RARELY) ever venture to GG/Westminster for anything. I get panicky because it's congested and cars are coming from all directions and making all sorts of illegal turns and whatnot.
But our friends decided they wanted to eat here, so off we went.
For starters, we couldn't find the place and we were just about to give up. I think that MapQuest is just not meant for a city like GG because there are businesses packed just about anywhere. I mean, Brodard is hiding behind a 99 Cent Store in the Mall of Fortune and you have to look for a random driveway that takes you behind the store, where normally, a dumpster and a loading dock would be.
That said, we might actually trek back here because these spring rolls are some freakin' good spring rolls. We don't eat pork, so we just got the ones with the grilled shrimp paste. I like that the rolls are crispy inside because of the fried egg roll wrappers.
We also tried the bahn xeo (or however you spell it), which is the big yellow crunchy crepe stuffed with shrimp, bean sprouts and onions. It was good although very filling. My friend also had the crab and shrimp noodles that came in a bright orange-y broth. My boyfriend had the shaken beef and he said it was good.
Overall, I think that I would come back and make a meal of just the spring rolls or just get a huge tray to go.
It got really busy by the time we left and getting the check was an ordeal. Luckily, we were with two Vietnamese-speaking people so at least ordering and getting food was efficient. The prices for the rolls are pretty good because you get four hefty ones for the price of two in Irvine.

I really wanted to like this place.
Been here 3 times now. The nem nuong cuon is awesome. It's as good as it gets. There's no doubt this appetizer is their speciality.
I can see why this is place is popular, because everyone comes here for the nem nuong (pork paste) which is used in their spring roll. But other than that, a lot of the items on the menu is rather mediocre. I do not find the portions very large either. My rice vermicelli with egg rolls and bbq pork bowl was mostly veggies. I had to search for my rice vermicelli.
The price isn't cheap for what you get. People say ohh the prices are reasonable.... reasonable in what way? I've eaten Vietnamese food all my life and $8-$9 is considered steep for a bowl of bun cha gio thit nuong.
The parking is terrible, the service is not good, but if you're gonna come here, stick with the spring rolls.

Nem nuong cuon. Best thing ever. I could eat it all the freaking time for the rest of my life. Sucks for me that its 400 miles away :((((
I also had the bun bo bue here. Goodness stay away from it and anything else that they serve. 1 star off for not so good stuff on the menu. Stick with the nem nuong cuon!
I have been to Brodard (now called nem nuong cuon) many times now. I'm not sure why they changed the name to something that is even more difficult to say. I am always happy with the food when I go (except for the one time my friend ordered the PHO and Beef Stew Ban Mi - avoid those.. they are not the signature dishes).
Getting there - first of all... this is a restaurant stuck BEHIND a plaza with no signs indicating where it is. If you're lost... go behind the 99 cent store where all the garbage bins are and the huge trucks.. then you'll find it :)
Once you're finally in, start with the famous pork spring rolls. nothing more needs to be said except - YUM!
Most of the menu is quite interesting and isn't like more vietnamese restaurants. I have yet to try everything but things I have tried that are great...
the coconut egg crepe/pancake stuffed with bean sprouts and shrimp served with fresh greens. absolutely yummy!
spicy beef salad - thai style. fresh and tangy. really delicious! lots of vingerette and fish sauce - be warned... this may not be the greatest dish to order on a first date if you are scared of fish/garlic breath :)
the 3 color drink/dessert is also good to try. its got green bean, coconut milk, lychee balls... yum!
Love this place, I take people there whenever possible to try real vitnamese food. The place is a madhouse on weekends. There spring rolls are awesome, I haven't found better. The best advice is close your eyes, pick a random page in the menu, place your finger on a menu item and then order it... but whatever you do, order the combination spring rolls! They are a must.
well, i had to finally check this spot out ...
there's been so much yelp'n, i got curious.
i'm glad that i did because it was my first visit
to the lil saigon area. luckily i'm work'n nearby.
ok, be'n a guy who really digs ambiance,
i gotta deduct a BIG star right off the bat ...
this spot is located in the back of a strip
plaza called "mall of fortune" ... so why did
i feel so UNfortunate? 1/2 the mall's vacant!
seriously, in restaurant & retail it's all about
location, location, location. and the interior ...
well, let's just say it is a family restaurant.
now for the food. i did try their famous rolls,
nem nuong. they were good, but "to die for"?
i dunno about that ... better than most (yes) but
not as good as le colonial or a some others.
overall though the food was good and fresh.
i like casual dining but there's room to improve.
i hate to bash but they've gotta find a new spot.
keep'n it real is cool but this is a lil "too real".

They are known for their spring rolls so try them because they're good. Other than that I haven't really tried much else besides the vermicelli which is nothing special imo. Portions are average but not huge or anything special. Be warned that this places closes on tuesdays...

The best Vietnamese spring rolls. Period.
I love Brodard. Brodard Chateau is also great because it comes with the "fine-dining" type of atmosphere, although with the exact same food.
Anyways, best Vietnamese spring rolls in Little Saigon.
Positives:
1. Great spring rolls.
2. Decor inside is very nice and surprising considering its in the back of the "Mall of Fortune."
3. Lots of girls at whatever time of the day.
4, Prices are fair.
Negatives:
1. It's in the "Mall of Fortune."
2. Always crowded.

It might be an off night tonight at Brodard. I have eaten here many times before and it was decent enough for me to go back. Tonight though, was such a disappointment. You can't go to Bordard and not order their signature pork spring rolls and that was still yummy. I felt like noodles tonight so I ordered the egg noodles with assorted seafood. The soup tasted like dish fluid, the seafood tasted as if it just literally came out from the freezer, and the egg noodles were very gummy. The food was not fresh at all and for the price for egg noodles; it was not worth it. I will definitely not come back here for noodles but spring rolls, I'm there.
I ordered nem nuong rolls for a potluck ufc party I attended and everybody loved them. I called in for 40 rolls togo and they were ready for pickup 15 minutes later. I love love love this restaurant!
don't forget to try the coconut jelly...freakin' amazing, esp if you like coconut.

Just bought some take outs from Brodard, you'll want to sepecify either 3 or 4 rolls depending on how many you like.
I ordered the following:
1 order (4 rolls) of nem nuong (Vietnamese pork meatballs)
1 order (4 rolls) of bi cuon (shredded pork)
1 order (4 rolls) goi cuon (pork & shrimp)
1 order che ba mau (3 color flavor dessert)..Brodard makes the best che ba mau.I would come here sometimes just for their che ba mau.
The rolls are great and made fresh while you wait. The service is fine for take outs, they do take your order promptly and keep customer's moving.
The wait for my food wasn't too bad...about 15mins...it went quickly since I occupied myself with the cd store across the way.

always poppin, cheap, delicious, so many selections from french stew to bunbu wey (sp?), but the rolls are the best!!
it's like, right behind the 99c store & the super discount opi nailpolish place.

Went here with the coalition of Vietnamese guys. This place is CROWDED. The tables are set up where there is barely and space to walk in between. A few excuse me's and get the fuck outta the way's were used to get through the place.
The food was about average. The rolls are what this place is known for. The Nem Nuong Cuon are made just like how my grandma used to make em. The sauce is very well made too. I've helped make this dish with my grandma since I was a kid. After years of experience, I gotta give this place kudos for it.
Everything else....... about average.
The following hour after eating here, I had the most incredible food coma I've ever had in my life. My friends and I sat around like a few obese Americans at a bbq for at least 2 hours.

5 stars for the best spring rolls ever! It's hard to order spring rolls anywhere else after having these. They are fresh and yum! I've probably have eaten more Vietnamese food in Garden Grove than Korean. I get random calls from random friends asking which is the best Korean restaurant in GG. Then i start thinking and thinking....and thinking. After all this thinking...I realize, I don't have have many experiences to draw upon. Although, I semi grew up in GG this was before renovations, remodels, ownership changes and the inevitable...going out of businesses...but I digress.
So when friends ask...I always reply " Idon't know...but you have to go to this hole in the wall tucked behind a strip mall... they have the BEST spring rolls" .. You see these spring rolls have turned this unassuming, rather typical, dime a dozen vietnamese restaurant into a LANDMARK. This infamous spring roll, bringing together the masses, is meticulously assembled by a sea of vietnamese factory woman. In which, they pack in lettuce , spicy chives, pork or shrimp sausage and a crispy fried egg roll wrapper and ightly roll into a thin rice paper. Along with it, they serve this delectable, savory and pungent dipping sauce to which I add a copious spoonful(s) of sambal.
Yes, it's good. Yes, I guarantee you will enjoy it. If not, blame it on the almost 200 people that have preceded me and seem to agree.
Disclaimer: The 5 stars are for the spring rolls and maybe the vermicelli. Although, thru inflation, recessions and failing economy they too have increased their prices and reduced the portions. I should dock a point..but i won't....cause i'm nice.

Love the nem nuong spring rolls here! They have mastered their signature rolls and sauce. Very delicious! The other entrees are good, but it is their rolls that keep a lot of their customers coming back. It is crowded, but they have a lot of turnover, so the wait isn't unbearable. They do not have the best service and sometimes squeeze you in when the restaurant gets crowded, but it is decent enough for the food. Their sauce is probably the best central style sauce that I've had. Many restaurants also offer similar rolls and sauces, but Brodard is probably the best out of the local restaurants. They did open a higher end version of their restaurant, Brodard Chateau, but I would only go there if I wanted a nicer, fancier ambiance. The food and prices at Brodard are very reasonable, although their prices have raised a lot since first opening.
Some of the other dishes that we've ordered that are good too:
Mi Quang (egg noodles), Bun (vermicelli), chao tom (shrimp rolls), porridge
I do have one gripe about Brodard, and that has to do with some health/sanitary issues (what we found in the lettuce once), but I'm sure it happens to a lot of restaurants and I don't want to single them out. This is why they only have 4 stars. I hope they are now more careful with the food they serve. It didn't keep us away. The food is great, and we head here often when we want to have family gatherings. Quick, easy, inexpensive, and great food!

This review is really 3.5 stars. Pretty good spring rolls (we got the shrimp and vegetarian)... though I would have liked them better with basil, perilla or mint (theirs only have lettuce, so we ordered a table salad to compensate). We also got this rice, seafood dish cooked in a clay pot... it kind of reminded me of biryani or maglooba... it was really good. We told our waiter we only eat vegetarian or seafood... but somehow he managed to give us the house special sauce (for dipping the spring rolls)... which consisted of pork, chicken and beef... that was a big turn off. Overall, the food was good and we will definitely come back.
Tip: Restaurant is hard to find. Just park in front of the mall of fortune (or even better, park behind it) and then walk to the back of the mall and then exit the mall... and you should see the entrance outside the backside of the mall.
FYI: I don't think this is a $ restaurant...we only ordered 2 appetizers, 1 entree and 2 ice teas and the total was nearly $30.
Very good spring rolls, very good service. This is one of the more fancier Vietnamese places I've been to, where you actually have more than 1 minute to look over the menu and where you can get a refill.
The prices are kinda high, but I guess you pay for the atmosphere. Other than the spring rolls, I don't remember anything else being spectacular. This is a good place to bring people who may be iffy about trying Vietnamese food. I'd come back, why not?
Yum!
I actually ate there two nights ago, but had to wait to write my review because I didn't actually eat my meal until lunchtime yesterday...
My Vietnamese friend ordered us every type of spring roll in the joint and they were so delicious--large, fresh, and perfectly textured and flavored. By the time our tour of spring rolls was done though, so was my appetite. Sadly but gladly!
For lunch yesterday I had my seafood bowl in a clay pot and it was so freaking good--even out of Tupperware! Ample seafood and rich flavoring, with lots of vegetables.
The service was fast and efficient, from ordering to serving to paying. The atmosphere is very casual, not something I'd save for a night out on the town, but since I apparently will need to wear elastic banded pants when I go there, that's okay.
Note, it's hard to find...you have to park behind the strip mall and find the entrance in the back. I've heard it's packed on weekends which is probably good...you'll have plenty of time to maximize your appetite!
So I was working and I had a meeting with this doctor. We got to talking and he said, "oh, you like vietnamese food? You should try out my wife's family's restaurant." Turns out to be Brodard and the Chateau...dope huh?
This place probably has the best nem nuong rolls anywhere around. I'm not a huge fan of the food, but if I were to eat them I'd go to this place. The staff is your typical Vietnamese staff, you know? Very un-like American service oriented. But the foods good. That's all the really counts right?
I venture into Little Saigon when I'm seeking and craving a new culinary adventure. Every restaurant has its specialties.
Brodard definitely is the best place for spring rolls. The Nem Nuong delicately wrapped rice paper spring rolls stuffed with a sort of pork sausage, greens and a yummy crunchy egg roll hidden in the middle for crunch was AMAZING. In addition, the shrimp paste spring rolls were OUTSTANDING. The shrimp spring rolls have an addictive garlicky flavor with fresh greens. Order the combination to sample both. The sauce accompaniment for the rolls is out of this world.
I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants and have to declare that
nothing compares to Brodard's spring rolls. I learned that Bamboo Bistro in Corona del Mar is owned by Brodard. If I need my spring roll fix, I don't have to drive to Little Saigon. Bamboo Bistro offers the same spring rolls, but it is authentic to see the ladies in the window rolling them in the original location in Garden Grove
Order this:
#1 Six (6) eggrolls (fried) with greens to wrap, and tasty tangy dipping sauce
#5 Two (2) pork spring rolls and two (2) shrimp paste spring rolls-combo; famous orange warm dipping sauce
Spicy beef salad- huge portion to share-EXCELLENT; meat was cooked medium; tad pink in the middle.
This was enough for two people.
I would definitely return for spring rolls and something new; I saw the duck salad ordered quite a few times. Will get that next time.
Brodard is my new favorite Vietmamese restaurant, especially in the summer time when I just don't want to eat pho soup in the heat.
Great place to take people who are new to Vietnamese cuisine

Brodard is good for only one thing. Spring rolls. I love the shrimp ones, but the pork ones are good as well. It's just too much for me. It's the sauce. Something about the homemade sauce makes you crave for more. Add a little hot spicy sauce to it and it's just heaven.
This place should go hand in hand with Thai Nakorn. I have a cousin. She lives in Seattle. Her daddy flies planes. She flies for free. She use to fly down every weekend and this was our schedule every Sat.
Morning: Pho
Afternoon: Brodard
Dinner: Thai Nakorn
and in between: Tastea boba or crepes.
yes, we eat a lot.
We ate here recently, and the spring rolls are as good as ever. However, I was astounded by the price. I've been coming here for years, but 4 spring rolls cost $8.00 now!! I'm just used to it being $4.75 for 3 rolls, and the whole point of me eating in Little Saigon is to save some cash. Guess not anymore.

Oh Brodard....what can I say that the other reviewers haven't..?
I love, love, love, love their nem nuong cuon! However, I have to give them credit for their other dishes, such as their clay pot cat fish, their bo luc lac, and there's this one other dish that I can't think of..but honestly their nem nuong cuon is the best. You can never have enough...!
One thing though, this place is extremely busy! For it's location, I'm amazed as to how many people know about it, it's down an alley, the outside surrounding looks dirty, and it's behind a 99 cent store...the location in itself would make you not want to enter for a meal, but don't let that get to you, go in, order their nem nuong and you'll be happy.
Now, I've been to their "up scale" location and honestly for the price they're charging, I won't go there and not to mention, the food was horrible (but that's another review for another day)!

One of my favorites. This place is the bomb for Nem Nuong Cuon rolls (pork rolls with some crispy strip inside). Also try their Banh Xeo and Chicken/Duck salad here. They've got a variety of foods, although the rice isn't anything special.
Long lines so you should write down your name first and then have a peek at the side windows, where you can see the workers make the Nem Nuong Cuon rolls.
I only go here for the Spring Rolls, the Pork ones. Its crispy, has great flavor, just fresh to death. I don't remember anything else I've ever eaten here, just the Spring Rolls.
If all you want is pork spring rolls (nam nieung), then this is the place to go. It can get very crowded here during the peak times, but if you don't mind either waiting or ordering to go (which we did and it took only 10 min to fill the order) then this place can't be beat. We love (and only order) the pork spring rolls because it is their specialty. The filling consists of fresh herbs and veggies, rice noodle, crunchy egg roll wrapping, and the delicious pork. Dip it into their homemade sauce and yum you're in heaven. We got 8 pieces for $12 which is very reasonable considering I got full after 2-3 pieces already. Hits the pork roll craving that's for sure.

Nem Nuong Cuon is awsome here. That is all I eat when I come along with a Soda Chanh, which another user mentioned. I took my mom out for lunch here once and even she liked it. She's really picky about Vietnamese food. Location is in a bad spot, but the food is good so I can't complain.
I previously came here to get the deep fried egg rolls but never had sat down to eat here. Until today.
My brother and sister in law are leaving tomorrow to move to Portland, so this was supposed to be our last meal together before they head out.
It was also my sister in law's sister's birthday, so she was also there with her husband, as well as their mother. We all more or less each got an order of their spring rolls , with one of their egg rolls and a half of a sausage wrapped with some veges. With the sauce, which looks and tastes like it could be soup, is REALLY good. I've had those spring rolls before at my S-in-law's graduation lunch at their house in Costa Mesa, but they are just so good.
We also all shared a beef salad and both my s-in-law and her sister got I dunno what it was called, but she said it was a Viet crepe, stuffed with vegetables and shrimp. Personally, it looked like a deep fried omelette, hahaha. It was good.
I've heard from someone else that the newer Brodard Chateau in Garden Grove has the same food but the restaurant itself is a little nicer. I should go try that out soon.

I had to make an impromptu trip to OC and of course we had to stop by Brodard. This time I ordered Nem Nuong Chao Tom. Its #6 on their "Brodard Specialties" list and boy was it special. It was so special that I ate it all. I would also recommend trying the coconut juice from this place (they also add two slices of coconut)---its extremely refreshing--it drove me nuts! get it? coco-nut!? haha.
OMG. Anytime that I am in orange county I always have to stop at Brodard's for a meal (although, I must say, they certainly are situated in a strange plaza). Regardless, this place is constantly packed. They are known for their amazing nem nuong (spring rolls) accompanied with their secret peanut sauce. I've ordered several things from their menu and I have never been disappointed. Oh and their prices are ultra reasonable (double whammy)!

I love spring rolls and they are the shit here at Brodard! I haven't tried the nem nuong (pork) rolls because I don't eat pork but my mom loves them! The shrimp ones are absolutely delicious, they don't use regular shrimp but instead use chao tom (which is grinded up shrimp meat) so it tastes even better! And what is inside their secret sauce, it's so freaking good!!! The crunch factor of the rolls are awesome too, as they add an eggroll shell it seems inside of them.
If you've never been here before it's behind the 99 Cent store off of Brookhurst and Westminster (there's a little sign that'll point you in the right direction). It's usually packed whenever I go so I always get it to-go. Try the rolls, they're soooo good!!!

It's that one and only restaurant when you think of, that one special thing that you've been feenin for.... CHA TOM (4)! From the EPA center of Bolsa, and through the midst of all dishes that are similar within the 5 mile radius, Brodard brings a simple food to such great extent of making it unique and delicious, my hats off to you.
Spring rolls and their signature sauce are fantastic - you don't need to try anything else. In addition, they've got a great dessert drink (forgot the name) with coconut juice, beans, and some type of jelly.
Prices are steep for a Vietnamese joint but the place is as close to 'fine-dining' as you'll come by for a Vietnamese restaurant. Since Brodard seems to be packed often, everything seems to be very efficient.
